Gouache Guy (girl) #3

Here's another of the ones I started the day before yesterday. This is all in the name of experimentation, though now I'm seeing that I'm doing the exact same thing with the gouache that I was doing with the watercolors and water-soluable painting crayons (which ARE gouache, in a different form). But I have some ideas of directions to go....

(This is not a good scan, by the way. The orange lines are way darker here than on the original, and I have no idea how to adjust that in any of my programs.)

  1. Interesting experiments with the gouache, I love the first one where you have used all the colours. Great blog too. Thank you for commenting on my blog.

  2. seeing more 'zing' in the colours happening here, keep going, keep going, you have such energy in your brushwork.

  3. Good luck with the Gouache. When getting my degree, Gouache was a required medium, and I (among others) found it to be difficult and temperamental. It does take a lot of practice and patience. By the time I was out of school and freelancing I ended back with acrylics... and they're the medium for me.
But those who really learn to handle Gouache make some incredible work.
Looks like you're on your way.

  4. My relationship with gouache is a lot like Richard's, though I eventually settled on watercolors for most of my projects. I really like what you're doing with them. Keep up the good work, and best of luck in the new school year!
