Illustration Friday: Slither

It's a fine thing to finally have both the time and the wherewithall to work on an actual project. Here's another Illustration Friday topic that I'm a little hard put to explain. Maybe I shouldn't even try. So I guess I won't....

This one is big, so I had to use my camera to take a picture of it, and the quality isn't as good as if I'd used my scanner....

Illustration Friday: Equipment

Okay, I finally got to make a picture for Illustration Friday. This is on my new Painter program, and even though I'm not all that happy with the picture, I AM happy that I've figured out at least a few things about layers, which I know that probably everyone and his dog already knows, but I didn't.

So it's a step, anyway.

And, as far as the topic goes, you need to be sure to have proper equipment when venturing into the unknown. I was thinking about a child running away from home, or a child going off into the big woods on an imaginative adventure. My son told me that I should do more "thinking outside the box," and that this was a boring idea. Perhaps. My reference photo was of my youngest nephew, looking VERY apprehensive, but he has turned out to look much older, and much more confident. Oh well.

It's probably a good thing I didn't go with my first thought about "equipment" which is anatomical....

Wild Woman Doodle

Here's the doodle I made while talking on the phone to my very very best friend who lives far too far away.

Another Doodle

I probably shouldn't post these, but all this electronic media is right at my fingertips.

Here's a doodle I made during a long phone conversation I had with a friend this evening (until my son came along and wanted to try out this program).

Illustration Friday: Cocoon

Sometimes when the pressures of life get too great, all I want to do is wrap up in a soft warm blanket and withdraw from the world for awhile.

...uh....the color sure came out bright in this. It's way brighter than the original. I ought to be able to tone it down, but how?

Rotten New Program

So...I got this new Painter program as a kind of new "toy," mostly because my new computer didn't have any kind of rudimentary painter program on it like all my old computers did, and I used them for doodling while talking on the phone, or when I got home from school just too fried to do anything else, and I missed it.

But I don't know how to use this program. So I figured if I just play around with it every day that I'll figure a few things out, and I supposed I have, but all the little experiments I've done are absolute crap. This is the only one I like even a little bit.

But I'll probably keep playing around. I just hope it doesn't interfere with me doing other things....
