Illustration Friday: Heights
This is the first of three pictures for "heights". People look different when viewed from a height. I had my son pose for reference photos. He was quite willing. Besides the bold light, I really liked the different perspectives (which you'll see more of as I finish the other two), and his hands. He has very expressive hands.
I was also playing with using more washes (to thus save my wrist from a bit of the over-use issue) and doing the hatching a different way that wouldn't hurt.

I like the pose & the mixture of styles, great work!
ReplyDeleteReally nice perspective and style. So handy to have a willing model! The hatching looks great.
ReplyDeleteAmazing drawing :) you've captured the perspective incredibly well, as well as his clothes which are always tricky things to draw!
ReplyDeleteI really like the washes. I hope your wrist feels better soon, but keep doing the washes too. It gives a lot of depth to the drawing. Nice!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this one! Such a great, timeless feeling to it, and a great sense of character.
ReplyDeletegreat line work and the washes are a great success. you've inspired me to have a go at pen and ink too!
ReplyDeletejust curious, are they large works?
They're about 8" X 7".....some a little bigger....
DeleteThese are both equally wonderful! I like the perspective of the top image and how your son's hands seem large and scary.
ReplyDeleteI really like your use of perspective and i think the mixed of wash and hatching looks great.
