Aha! I got this one "done" (or sortof done anyway) this week too. I should have just waited to post this week's Illustration Friday picture.
This was from a sketch I did maybe six or seven years ago. I always meant to do something with it, but never have before.
I'm not exactly satisfied with this, and may try to again with a traditional medium.
I like it a lot! Kind of a cozy, innocent take on "Spooky".
ReplyDeleteThis is just splendid, and classic too. The bare foot lets you know how warm it is in the room.
ReplyDeleteHi Theresa,
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle spookiness of this... the atmosphere you created with your texture is wonderful!

p.s. I was looking for an email address but couldn't find one. Paul Klee's transfer method is basically drawing your sketch on tracing paper then flipping it over to apply a thin layer of black oil paint with a brayer (I used acrylic - it works too)... place the painted side down, while still wet, on a piece of paper (or whatever surface you want to transfer it to)... Then draw over your lines.
Hope that helps :)
You have really captured the atmosphere and mood perfectly in this. I also like your transportation illustration very much. Thank you for your kind, kind words in my direction :)
ReplyDeleteI like what Steve said-- cozy and spooky at the same time-- like he is reading spooky tales in a snug atmosphere. I love your music drawings!! There is so much energy in them!
ReplyDeleteLovely - I think you're too hard on yourself! It has a really nice feel to it and looks like something from a childrens' story book!
