Illustration Friday: Legendary

************* Legends gloss over reality, which in this case is a very tired and discouraged boy, trying to play a man's role. That he will someday become a legend does not in any way lessen his current exhaustion. He is grateful for his faithful hound.

  2. You've captured a moment that we've all felt--the weight of the world on your shoulders; a moment of respite, hopefully with a faithful friend... Beautiful textures and contrast!

  6. This tugs at my heart-strings! You've really made me "feel" for this boy, and appreciate his loyal dog, also--I had a bassett hound that would lay her head on my lap the same way when I was feeling sad...I LOVE this illustration!

  8. I really like the style of this work. There's so much detail in it! All the spot blacks really bring a heavy overtone, contributing to your theme that legends aren't all that they're cracked up to be.
