Two more with the gouache resist andIndia ink. I was so skeptical at first, and not liking the crudeness, but I guess if one is going to experiment with something, then only making one isn't really enough. So I may do all 29 of these faces with this technique, and see what happens.

Heye heye heye hey hey, well I just love how it's turned out!! It's that lack of perfect control perhaps gives all sorts of suprises? That top one especially, the ryhtimof the blacks and the greys, it's almost back to earth - I think it's an honest technique and makes me want to play ! Sorry to not be around I found a great lit agent who has taken me under wing and is making me work harder than I ever have - so no time at all for me :(..... But Ithink it's worth it. See you, thanks for showing this technique
ReplyDeleteWow! Are those ever expressive! And singular in style. You really have a way with ink. I don't see these as crude at all, but very powerful, yet subtly delicate. Wonderful technique.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou should do a youtube tutorial!
Uh.....this is the barest beginning of experimenting......
ReplyDeleteLovely..yes agree with Lola;-)
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing awesome work with a technique that is new to you - they look so pro. These are just great, as well as the one in previous post! Just love the bold contrast of light and shadow and the strong expressions.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really like these two, though all your faces for this project are really cool. A really neat technique.
ReplyDeletei'm so impressed with your mastery of expression! i can almost feel a migraine threatening when i look at this drawing, so powerfully do you portray this woman's pain.
ReplyDeletei join the ranks of those who would love to see a tutorial
