Irish Pub Guy

So...it's been really hard to get back into the swing of making things. It's the old you-have-to-actually BE there in order to have any kind of inspiration, and since I haven't "been there" I don't have any inspiration. So I started a couple of portraits, and this one really sucks, but I'm posting it anyway, just to prompt me to make one that doesn't suck.

  1. Haha! It doesn't suck! Give me three good reasons why it does and I still won't belive you. You know, the amazing thing is that it looks like an Irish Guy in a pub - I think it's the quirky smile.

  2. There's often some truth to be found in most drawings; this one, although may not be satisfying to you in terms of finesse and finish, conveys some reality of the fellow in the pub. Might be my gestalt working overtime, but he definitely has a pub demeanor about him.

  3. Definitely doesn't suck...very nice expression you've achieved here!

I like this (Picasso?) quote: "Inspiration exists. It just has to find us working." I tend to hope for the inspiration first...! :-)
