So it's a step, anyway.
And, as far as the topic goes, you need to be sure to have proper equipment when venturing into the unknown. I was thinking about a child running away from home, or a child going off into the big woods on an imaginative adventure. My son told me that I should do more "thinking outside the box," and that this was a boring idea. Perhaps. My reference photo was of my youngest nephew, looking VERY apprehensive, but he has turned out to look much older, and much more confident. Oh well.
It's probably a good thing I didn't go with my first thought about "equipment" which is anatomical....
Really nice! It has a very hand-drawn quality-- excellent!
ReplyDeleteFunny how so many thought that about "equipment"! ;)
I like it. It has a scratchboard effect!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how do do anything digital.
Just old fashioned equipment for me ;)
It really is a great technique, looks like pen and ink. The other "equipment" occurred to me as well. Better to keep things G or PG rating!
ReplyDeleteWell I must admit to falling into the 'equipment' category. Mind you I did the illustration then tied it in. That way it looks like you are thinking outside the box when in fact you are clutching at strings (or equipment).
ReplyDeleteWell what did you learn about layers. I for one am yearning to know :)
Layers...well, just really basic stuff. Like having a layer for your original drawing, and then a layer for block colors, one for "texturing lines" and one for the airbrush "spattering" so that you can work on one without mucking up the other. I don't know that it was any great revelation, but I'm really really stupid about all things having to do with the computer.
ReplyDeletelove the rich textures and the colour choice, nice illo!
ReplyDeletewell done, as usual.
ReplyDeleteindeed there are many ways one could take the word equipment ;) i've never heard of painter! is it similar to photoshop? i think your picture turned out just great!
ReplyDeleteI love the textural, cross-hatchy feel of the image. Thanks for pointing out Painter. Looks like a software worth looking into.
ReplyDeletenice drawing ... like the way the eye has to search out what's going on
