Illustration Friday: Fleeting

Looking at the Talisman pictures has made me think again about scenes. I've been doing a lot of portraity sort of things, but I feel pretty clueless when it comes to making pictures with any kind of narrative (okay, I guess last week's had a narrative) or pictures with more than one thing in them.

And so thinking about it made me realize that I'd better start WORKING on it, because unless I do, it's not going to magically happen.

So here's a narrative picture. The idea is something about life being fleeting, except that I don't mean it quite like that, but more somehow, that even though life IS fleeting, it keeps renewing itself, and it's all WORTH IT!

And I'm not even going to list all the things that I see as terribly wrong with this picture. All I'm going to say is that I'm not going to make any more ball point pen pictures. I hate the way they smell.

  1. I can't smell them, but I can love de result:
Just great and sensitive well done illustration!

  2. Very nice interpretation of fleeting! Pity they smell so bad as you do such a great job with them!!

  3. Very nice mood here. I like the addition of the cats!

  4. Okay doll I have to get this off my chest immediately: A banana cheesecake??? I will pick through the broken pan to get a piece. That sounds delicious. I didn't get to 217 pounds at 5 feet tall by eating air.

Okay, I had to mention it because I'm like banana cheesecake, yum I have never had one but it sounds awesome.

Okay, okay, enough about the cake.

I love the picture. Absolutely love it.

Things are so expensive and kids teeth and college and then not wanting to hear us. Oh boy. So much on our minds.

Is your older son going to college? Is that like University in Canada?

Have a good rest of the day. GO...

    Love Renee xoxo

  5. cool illustration. I can't smell anything from here.

  6. beautiful!! it has illustrated very well how fleeting the life is. love the way you place the mourning people at the back and contrast the little kid against the coffin. and the lines you have used to convey moods... Great work!!

  7. this is a wonderful illustration. I love it

  8. You may think there's a lot wrong with this, but you achieved conveying a narrative piece with flying colors. Your message is very hopeful and uplifting.
